We will feature one or two of their seasonal brews.  Uncommon Brewers (UB) is a community-oriented organic microbrewery beginning operations in Santa Cruz county. Incorporating traditional Belgian brewing techniques, cutting-edge innovation from the modern West Coast, and grounded in the principles of sustainability voiced by the Slow Food Movement, our goal is to make uncommon beers for uncommon people. After nearly six years of research and development, we are now ready to bring that vision to market.

West End is a neighborhood eatery which showcases the flavors of a traditional pub with a California twist; using local, fresh and seasonal foods. Our food is cooked to pair perfectly with one of many craft beers and wines.  Our chef brings French cuisine techniques to a simple and approachable menu for all to enjoy and afford!  We are proud to offer healthy and fun kids choices along with mouth-watering house-made desserts and ice creams.   Come in and be our guest!

Quinn/Owner

Quinn grew up in nearby Aptos. Her restaurant days began at Fords Coffee Shop in Watsonville, a legendary establishment in the county’s history. Her grandmother and great-aunt opened and ran it for over 40 years. In 1987, Her family went on to open the Tied House Café and Brewery, one of the California’s first microbreweries and the “family beer business” began. After moving back to Santa Cruz with her husband Erik, she had her first son Finnly, and then second, Colin.  She decided to stay at home and understood how important it was to work close to her boys. Her thought of opening a restaurant in her hometown of Santa Cruz became a goal and West End Tap & Kitchen was born. A place where her craft beer roots could be showcased and her appreciation for local food could be transformed into a new take on pub food, often coined a “gastropub.” She partnered with an old college friend Geoff, who was a talented chef in Tahoe, and their visions united into a new eatery for friends and family to gather, eat and drink.

Geoff/Owner/Chef

Growing up in Texas, Geoff was raised by parents who truly loved food. Playing in the garden with his younger sister –Alex- is some of the first memories he has, along with hunting game with his father in West Texas. Geoff developed a respect for the ingredients around him. Later on Geoff was lucky enough to follow his grandparents and mother around the world to places like Cairo, Istanbul, much of Western Europe, and visit family in San Donato, Italy. It was the exposure to the eclectic cuisines of these places coupled with the pure simplicity of southern fare that propelled him into the culinary world.

After college he began cooking in Lake Tahoe, and took to the job and lifestyle very easily. Training under both Japanese and French chefs, Geoff brings these experiences to West End.

Our kitchen is open Sun-Wed from 11:30am til 9:30pm & Thurs-Sat 11:30am til 10pm! Our bar stays open til 10pm Sun-Wed and til 11pm Thurs-Sat.

We are located in the Ingalls Street Courtyard on the west side of Santa Cruz. Take Mission Street North toward Half Moon Bay, left on Fair Ave and right onto Ingalls Street.  Turn into the Ingalls Street courtyard.  We are on the North West corner of the building, next to the Bonny Doon Winery.
